Always an eagle!

Over the years, dedicated alumni of Frederick Douglass High School (FDHS) have sponsored numerous activities in support of our alma mater. Such groups were predecessors and laid the foundation for the recently established organization officially known as Frederick Douglass High School Alumni Association of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Inc.* (FDHS AA of Upper Marlboro).

In 2016 alums became acutely aware of the dire prospect of losing our dear alma mater. This prompted a discussion by many alums of the necessity for an organization to preserve and promote the legacy of FDHS. Shortly, thereafter alums began the work of creating an organization in support of the school’s past, present, and future.

In 2017, the Association received official recognition as an organization by the state of Maryland.

In 2019, the FDHS AA received non-profit designation (commonly referred to as 501(c)(3) from the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

To live up to our mantra of preserving and promoting the legacy of our alma mater, we will work to continue to strengthen and maintain relationships with and amongst alumni, students, faculty, staff and other organizations, such as the PTSO (Parent Teacher Student Organization formerly known as PTA) who support the purpose and goals of the FDHS AA.

Currently, we support Alumni Day, educational assistance for graduating seniors, Back to School night, Everything Douglass, and Holiday Baskets for the Needy.

*So named because of the proximity to Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore, Maryland and other Frederick Douglass schools throughout the country.

Association meetings are held January to June and September to December on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7pm.
